Inspired by a Mexico City chasuble dating from 1898, we first made this design as a five piece Mass of Thanksgiving set for a newly ordained priest of the Fraternity of Saint Peter. Now this design has been expanded into a full Solemn Set, commissioned by another FSSP apostolate in San Diego. In our twelve-piece set, roses are simply everywhere, entwined in ribbons proclaiming the many titles of Our Lady from the Litany of Loreto: Rosa Mystica, Mater Divinae Gratiaei, Regina Pacis, Regina Martyrum, ... Our radiant Mother rests on the back as we urge her to pray for us.
Incidentally, the FSSP's North American Seminary is named "Our Lady of Guadalupe". Not only is she the patroness of the Americas, the Philippines and Mexico, but the basilica where her image is venerated in Mexico City is the most visited Catholic pilgrimage site in the world.
Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared as a mother with child to a country being consumed by human sacrifice over 500 years ago (largely children). Mary, be our Protectress in this country, shield all mothers and babies -- the most vulnerable of our citizens today.
